I Love You!

Today, before daddy left for work, grandma was doing Mia’s voice as we all do from time to time. She said, “I love you!” in a pretty singing tone. Immediately after hearing it, Mia chimed in with some sounds that sounded exactly like what her grandma had just done! The inflections and tones were the same – the only thing missing was the pronunciation of the consonants! πŸ™‚

There’s no way to know for sure if she was really trying to imitate grandma and tell daddy that she loved him, but we like to believe that she was and either way, it was still very cute and endearing!

“Mimi” and “Yaya” have turned 5 months old today! We celebrated by getting some cupcakes and the girls got to lick some frosting off! Mimi has also started to do the raspberry noise symphony with mommy – they have performances nightly. πŸ™‚

New site feature: the picture at the top left has been changed to a slideshow type of display using java. It will scroll through all 5 of our pictures over time – we’ll try and keep it up to date with new pictures as much as possible!

Happy (belated) 4th of July!

We all had a fun (first) 4th of July! We got to watch fireworks on tv (mommy and daddy said that live ones would be too loud for our young ears) – we liked all the pretty colors and patterns that they make. It reminded us of our baby einstein videos that we watch!

The other day, we read a story with daddy and helped him turn the pages in the book after he was done reading each one. He was pretty amazed, but really, we just wanted to see what was on the next page! We can also hold our sippy cups on our own and roll over from front to back and from back to front. Mommy and Daddy also bought us our first play gym – we had lots of fun with that on the 4th! They’re trying a new sleep schedule with us now, too – they’re making us go to bed early (8:30pm) – so far, we’ve slept through the night 3 out of 3 nights that we’ve tried – Mommy and Daddy are very happy about that! πŸ™‚

NEW PICS!! Check Mia’s, Yasmine’s, and the group sections – and don’t forget to look back a few pages as there are quite a few new ones! There’s also a new “image of the day” in the top left corner – daddy finally figured out how to make this look correct again, so maybe he can update it more often now! πŸ™‚

Happy 1st Father’s Day to our daddy, from Mia and Yasmine. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Just like for Mother’s Day, we spent the day with family and all ate lunch together. Daddy received a new photo printer that he and mommy will use to print out lots of lab-quality pictures of us girls!

4 Month Doctor’s Appointment

Today was our 4 month doctor checkup. Mia weighed in at 13.5 lbs. and was 22.5 inches long while Yasmine weighed 13 lbs. and was 22 inches long. I guess a 7 minute head start equals half a pound and half an inch? πŸ™‚

We also had to get more shots. πŸ™ πŸ™ Hopefully, one day we’ll be able to go to the doctor when we DON’T have to get shots so that we don’t get scarred for life by the whole process! πŸ™

Today, we tried solid foods for the first time. We split a jar of sweet potatoes and a jar of pears for dinner. It was very yummy and we can’t wait to try more of this tasty “solid” food that everyone’s talking about! πŸ™‚

Tengo un paquete de muestra de 10, estaba buscando algo nuevo para probar. Para decirlo sin rodeos, este producto funciona. Mi mujer y yo nunca hemos estado tan en sintonΓa, Β‘es genial!

Our First Movie!

Today we decided to try and make an attempt to go see our first movie as a family. We fed and changed the girls and were on our way! We got to the movies and daddy paced back and forth with the girls in the stroller in the hallway into the theater until the previews were over (the previews tend to be very loud, so we wanted to wait until the actual movie started to sit down). The girls slept through basically the entire movie – there were a couple points where they got restless, but we were able to rock them back to sleep in their car seats. So, all in all, it was a great success and we did actually get to see the whole movie!

By the way, the movie we saw was Jersey Girl. We highly recommend it – especially daddy and the girls because it’s a movie about a father and his daughter. πŸ™‚

1st Step Towards College

The girls (and Mom and Dad!) took their first step down the long hard road to intellectual enlightenment today when Mom and Dad opened up college savings accounts for them at the credit union. Maybe, just maybe, with a few more deposits, they won’t have to panhandle for tuition by the time they get there! πŸ˜‰

Mia and Yasmine are now 1 month old. They have met over 50 friends and family (including their Great Grandfather) and are an international hit in Mexico. They are called the “Dos Gringas” due to their complexion. They recently had their 1 month check up at the doctor and are doing great. Mia weighed in at 7.4 lbs and 21 inches while Yasmine weighed 7.2 lbs and 20.5 inches. During their examination Yasmine decided to release some stress by relieving herself on Dr. Khan (TWICE!). Mom has already begun to instill the shopping bug into the girls. They have visited quite a few stores and are stopped quite frequently thanks to gushing spectators. We have also discovered they like to be read to in times of panic. It can be anything from a children’s book to a phone bill, as long as you continue to communicate they are amused. We have updated our website with a few pictures from our adventure in the park last Sunday please take a peek.

1 Week Old!

Today, the girls are offically one week old. What a week it’s been! Mommy and Daddy are quickly learning the ups and downs (mostly ups) of parenting. And from what we’ve been told from many other people, our downs aren’t even that bad. The girls routinely sleep 5-6 hrs per night and very rarely have any crying fits.

The ups, however, are more tremendous than we had ever imagined! These two little girls brighten our world beyond belief. Neither Mommy nor Daddy had any idea of how precious and wonderful they would be. They do something amazing (and lots of funny things, too!) everyday. Both girls, at one time or another have held their bottles up while feeding all by themselves (there’s a short video of Yasmine doing this on page 3 of her gallery). They can also grab onto Mommy’s or Daddy’s fingers and hold on tight enough to pull themselves slightly off the ground when we lift our hands. They’re getting stronger and brighter everyday!
